Preparing Your iPad
Before you get your new iPad, you need to make sure you've moved all of your data into temporary iCloud storage. You have 21 days to restore your temporary backup to your new iPad before your temporary iCloud storage expires and your backup is deleted permanently.
Before you start:
You must have a personal iCloud account ready, if not please follow this guide.
Your new iPad is delivered or is on it way to you.
Your current iPad must be on the latest OS version available.
Ensure that you’ve set a passcode on your current iPad.
How to create a temporary backup of your current iPad:
Go to Settings, then General.
Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPad.
Under "Prepare for New iPad", tap Get Started
If you see "iCloud Backup is Turned Off", tap Turn On Backup to Transfer.
If you don't have enough iCloud storage, you see a message that says you're eligible to get free extra iCloud storage. Tap Continue.
Wait for the backup to be completed.
Once you've backed up your files, you can set your new iPad up as soon as it arrives!
